Task: tweet: Switch to old Twitter: 403 Forbidden: The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it.

Posted by erich13 on May 15, 2011

Background: Using Flock on my Mom’s iMac, first thing in the morning, it would appear that somehow I personally (a user of Twitter) have reached some threshold of access to twitter.com, unless I’m just paranoid, and there is some other mitigating cause. Regardless of why, here are the symptoms:

  1. logged into Twitter, but there is a blank screen
  2. clicking on refresh doesn’t change the blank screen
  3. clicking on it several times, eventually the topmost header is shown, e.g. where “Home Profile Messages Who To Follow” are shown
  4. clicking on the user name->Switch to Old Twitter, yields: 403 Forbidden: The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it.
  5. clicking on the user name->Settings works
  6. clicking on the user name->Help works (goes to support.twitter.com)
  7. clicking on the user name->Sign out does not work (blank screen)
  8. clicking on the user name->Help and then on username->Sign out works

I am suspecting that this is a problem with Flock
